Easter

This was Hayden’s first year of dying eggs on her own. There were a few with cracks in them but that’s OK (just means we had to make potato salad) . She didn’t understand that you have to carefully put them in the bowl or that you can not bang them together. Over all it was a lot of fun and she enjoyed herself.

Easter day we went to church and had lunch at my grandparents. Of course Hayden walked out with 3 big baskets full of stuff… clothes, toys, jelly beans, stuffed animals, and books. The child is spoiled rotten!!!! As for what mommy and daddy gave her lets just say NO candy. I started a tradition when she was born that each year her Easter basket will be “Summer” related stuff… bathing suits, beach towel, flip flops, sun glasses, and bubbles. Her biggest and best gift of all that fit with the holiday was her new best friend Daisy. Although she got Daisy before Easter we still put her in the basket.

Hayden has a new friend

Can you spot the new “friend”?? Her name is Daisy! We adopted Daisy from a local farm after Hayden had a melt down for about an hour. She kept saying “my bunny my bunny”. I really thought she would forget about it but that hasn’t happened yet. After watching her with Daisy I think we should have got an elephant. Hayden doesn’t understand gentle. Poor Daisy has been picked up by her ears (maybe that’s why God made them so long) and neck.  But the first thing Hayden asks for in the morning is “where’s my Daisy” and before bed she must give Daisy hugs and kisses. I have also found that Daisy is a great babysitter. The play chase all around the kitchen and living room. Daisy runs and Hayden follows. Maybe Daisy was a good idea after all.

Strawberry Pickin’

I LOVE SPRING!!! Great time to be outside, go to the park, and pick strawberries (Hayden calls them strawbabies). Hayden and I picked 5 pounds of berries yesterday. Sounds like a lot must they are 1/2 gone already. She wanted to eat them as fast as we were picking them. She doesn’t understand they need to be washed before eating them.

Picture Perfect

Today I took Hayden to Forsyth Park to snap a couple of pictures while the flowers were in full bloom. I also wanted to brush up on my photography skills. Here are a few that I captured.

Jacksonville Zoo

Yesterday we took Hayden too the zoo with some friends and we have a blast! Hayden and Emmaleigh too that zoo by storm. It was slightly too warm 85 to be exact and most of the animals were just laying around. Personally I enjoy the monkeys the most and all of them were sleeping so I was a little disappointed. Hayden’s highlight of the day was feeding the giraffes and eating her snow cone.  This will definitely an annual trip for the Gatewood’s. For anyone that really knows Hayden she is an animal lover and she wants to hold or ride all of them.

St.Patrick’s Day 2011

It is a family tradition to go to breakfast at J. Christopher’s and then watch the St.Patrick’s Day parade. This year we had beautiful weather and almost a little to warm. Hayden had a really good time and was in great spirit’s for being up since 7am.  I think she most enjoyed the Budweiser Clydesdale horses she kept saying ” I ride them I ride them”.

Downtown Savannah

Sunday we spent family day in downtown Savannah. It was a beautiful day to be outside, have lunch, and a quick stop for frozen yogurt. This is a very busy week for Savannah due to St.Patrick’s Day so downtown was packed.

Our trip to Oatland Island

The weather has just been perfect the last few weeks in the sunny south so Hayden and I have been taken full advantage. Yesterday we spent the day with Poppy (my dad) and went to visit Oatland Island.  You will probably see several post over the year about Oatland Island, we have a yearly membership and Hayden really enjoys visiting all the animals. Oatland Island is a wildlife center in Savannah where you can walk the trails and visit with all the wild animals, feed the turtles and fish, and come face to face with farm animals.

Spring is here

We are so glad to see Spring and warm weather. Today was a mommy daughter day I took Hayden to lunch, pick flowers and have ice cream. Last year I found the U pick daffodil farm and Hayden really enjoyed it so this year I decided to take her back and of course she loved it more this year than last.

Terrific Two’s

Our little Hayden bug has turned 2! She has a fabulous birthday party with lots of her little friends.  The theme was “Create your own Cupcake”. We had chef hats for the kids to decorate and then lots of sprinkles and topping to put on the cupcakes.

I spent a lot of time preparing for her party and put a lot of thoughts into all of the cute decorations. I hand made everything from chocolate covered pretzels, white chocolate flower pops in the flower pots, chocolate ice cream candies, and the little purple boxes were a “thank you” gift filled with jelly beans.
