M.O.P.S.

M.O.P.S., also known as Mothers of Preschoolers, began in 1973 and was created by a small group of stay at home moms to get together a couple of hours a month.

I joined MOPS at a local church, First Baptist Church of Rincon (Georgia) April 2009. I had just recently had Hayden in February 2009 and became a stay at home mom. Everyone that I normally associated with was a working adult. After months of being home alone with a new born you begin to need adult conversation and interaction with other women going through the same things as you are in life. I was introduced to MOPS by a friend and she was the only person in the group that I knew at that time. After a few months of going I began to make other friends. I am now proud to say I have made some really great girlfriends that are stay at home moms just like me. We understand each other and vent to each other. Being a mom is the greatest gift on earth but it is a 24-7 job and not everyone understands that. Most people work from 8-5 and leave there job to go home but not us MOPS.

For three hours, while our children receive care, the mothers talk, laugh, eat, make a craft and end with a short devotional. This gives us time to enjoy adult conversations with other mothers just like myself and time for our children to interact with other children.
